On Monday, 21 Hats Enters a New Phase

Dear 21 Hatters,

As you probably know by now, on Monday I will start sending the full Morning Report to paid subscribers only. My heartfelt thanks to those of you who have already signed on. My plan is to keep finding subscribers who are willing to pay a small fee for a newsletter that highlights the most important news of the day curated specifically for business owners and entrepreneurs. Of course, the real goal is much bigger than that. The real goal is to build 21 Hats into an engaged community and a sustainable business that will keep growing; keep offering more podcasts, more workshops, more in-person events; and keep helping more and more of us connect so that we can all learn from each other and build our businesses.

The guiding philosophy of 21 Hats is that you do indeed have to wear a lot of hats to build a business. No one is expert at all of them. And no MBA program or incubator or book can fully prepare you for the challenges to come. We believe the most valuable support an owner can get comes from engaging with other owners on similar journeys to get the kinds of insights only another owner can offer. I’m confident that your subscription will represent both a tremendous value for you as well as a worthwhile investment in a community that will continue to find new ways to support owners for years to come.

The tax-deductible fee is $9 a month or $99 a year. I left Forbes to start 21 Hats in 2018. There have been many unexpected twists and turns along the way—just as there have been in your business. I’ve made more than a few mistakes, and I’m sure I’ll make more. But I’ve also figured out some things, and I think I’ve got 21 Hats ready to move on to that elusive next level. It will mean more to me than you can possibly know if you decide to join me.
