As we emerge from the pandemic, a period with stresses and strains like few others, how are you doing balancing your business life with your life life? Have you learned anything over the past year that has proved helpful?
This is a simple change, but I’ve found that completely shutting down in the evenings helps me. I get up at 4am, get a good cup of coffee and have a fresh state of mind to get after it again.
Not everyone works that way. As a team, we try to balance the lack of a standard 9-5 work window with zones of availability and asynchronous communication
Hey Loren, yes! I took the company virtual in 2011 after renting office space for several years. Being virtual worked really well for our team members who value work-life balance, want to travel, or have young families. https://www.trig.com/about
It wasn’t until 2016 that we started promoting the company as fully virtual. Prior to that, we kept it hidden because there was a stigma surrounding virtual work
Of course, now, everyone understands virtual work and doesn’t care if home life intersects work life. My daughter has made several appearances in my Zoom meetings
Slightly related question: What team-based personality profile tools have other entrepreneurs used for their teams? How have they helped you get better team dynamics? I’ll just throw this out there, but I think Myers-Briggs is pseudoscience. https://www.trig.com/tangents/myers-briggs-and-other-pseudoscience

I believe your business has been working entirely remotely since even before the pandemic. Is that right, Ty?

Thanks for responding, Ty. That's so interesting about the stigma. That never would have occurred to me.
